Ordering & FAQ
How long will it take to get my order?
Many items are shipped within a day or two after your order is placed, but malas are generally made to order and take about a week to ship. If you need a rush, make sure you add a note to your order, and we'll let you know if we can make it sooner. Right now, "we" is actually "me," so your mala will be handmade with love by yours truly. And I want it to be perfect for you!
Can I change my order after placing it?
Of course. As long as it hasn't been sent out, we're happy to make the change. Just drop us a line at hello@sacredskaia.com.
How can I cancel an order?
Email us at hello@sacredskaia.com. If the order hasn't been shipped, we're happy to cancel your order and give you a full refund. If it's already shipped, just follow the instructions on our Returns & Exchanges page to return your order.
You seem to use larger crystals than some malas I’ve seen. Why is this?
Our malas currently use 8mm crystals and beads for easier counting during chanting and meditation. We find 6mm crystals to be harder to slide along the wire, but may be able to do a custom order for you if this is your preference or you are very petite.
Are the malas hand knotted on silk thread?
No, and this is for durability. Hand knotted malas, while beautiful, aren't slated to last very long, with a reported lifespan of 9 to 18 months. We wanted our malas to be heirloom jewelry that would last for years. This is why we use 49-strand nylon coated stainless steel flexible wire instead of silk thread or stretch cord and minimize the use of jump rings that can pull apart. Our malas are created for a very long lifespan.
There’s a small “gap” in my mala — an empty space about the size of a bead. Is this a mistake?
Actually, no. It's intentional. This makes counting easier, and also makes your mala more durable since there's less tension when it bends.
Will my jewelry look just like the picture?
Your item will closely resemble its photo, but our jewelry is made by hand with natural crystals and woods. The beauty of these materials is that each bead is unique. If you're concerned that your piece will be too different (or if we feel the piece varies from the photo on our site), we're happy to text you a photo before we ship.
What if I’m very tall or very petite? Will my mala still be the right length?
We have two sizes to choose from for most malas. However, our malas are made to order and we're happy to adjust the length for you. If you're concerned about length, please make a note of your height and body type (slender, average or curvy) when you order and we'll take care of you.
Are there any special care instructions?
Your mala is durable and made with love and high quality materials, but it still needs to be treated with care. Wearing during exercise is not recommended. Please hang gently, store in the silk pouch that comes with your mala, or lay it across your altar. Note: the rosewood beads may darken over time when worn against your skin to a lovely, dark reddish brown. This is normal and doesn't detract from the beauty or longevity of your mala.
